A national award-winning writer, photographer and graphic designer, animal lover Brad Cooper designed the Deco Dog logo in 1992 to represent the EPVMA. The art deco-inspired sideways “E” shape stands for “El Paso” while its sleek, curved, canine-esque lines serve as a universal animal symbol. The now famous Deco Dog (pictured at right in our sidebar) received the highest accolades possible when it was featured in the worldwide bible of the commercial graphics industry, ‘Communication Arts Magazine.’ The equivalent of an Oscar for actors, a designer receiving a CA award is truly the greatest of graphics achievement. Brad Cooper was further recognized for his contributions to communications for the EPVMA when he received its Special Recognition Award for the design in 2003.

The image has graced countless promotional pieces covering 36 years of outdoor boards, television public service announcements, bumper stickers, lapel pins, banners, writing pens, caps, travel mugs, T-shirts, websites, brochures, tote bags, thermal sacks, stationery and numerous other publicity pieces.
